“Vittoria mio core” by, Giacomo Carissimi, is very popular with students. Its direct and positive message is very appealing and is reflected in the trumpet-like vocal motifs and joyous melismatic passages. This song is just plain fun to sing! It lies a little low in the voice and is particularly favorable to lower voices (several baritone performances are included below).

Our first performance is from baritone, Jamal-Akil Marshall whose performance of “Vittoria, mio core” by, Giacomo Carissimi exudes warmth of tone and spirit, spot-on intonation, and effortless melismatic passages. His interpretation perfectly captures the impishly delightful spirit of the song. Good show!

Our second performance is from baritone, Lawrence Mitchell-Matthews whose performance of “Vittoria, mio core” by, Giacomo Carissimi conveys a quiet grace only gently proclaiming the “victory”. Mr. Mitchell-Matthews sings with consistent warmth and perfect legato and melismatic passage work. An excellent presentation.

This scene from an Azerbazhiani film from 1970 shows a concert performance with orchestra of “Vittoria mio core” and sung by Russian matinee idol and pop star, Muslin Magomaev (the Russian “Frank Sinatra”). Who knew?! Enjoy!
